So happy to be here! I just purchased a new 170 Super Sport, and I am VERY excited to become a member of the Whaler community! I'll likely have many questions for the forum as time goes on.
I considered many criteria before deciding on the 170SS, and I think I made the right choice. It will be used by me and my 6-year-old to zip around the bay and do some fishing and exploring (and bonding). My wife and friends will join us occasionally. Seems like a very safe, fun, fast boat that’s also economical to run and maintain. I optioned for the 90 HP Mercury, and many extras. I’m chomping at the bit to get it in the water!
My previous boat was a 2011 Zodiac MK2C Classic with a 15HP 4-stroke Honda (pictures: https://picasaweb.google.com/10722866...directlink). It was great boat, and we had loads of fun with it. The motor (which was brand new) was destroyed during Hurricane Sandy while it was in a marina having the 20-hour service preformed.
I will be boating out of the Raritan Bay and Lower New York Bay. I have an adventurous side to me, so I’ll probably be taking it out for long trips up the Hudson, down the coast of Jersey, or across the Delaware Bay
