I'm a proud owner and had to share some pics. Grin
It needs work for sure, but I've seen a lot worse. It seems to be mostly original and cared for pretty well.
Whadya think?

Roger,

The boat looks good and in good condition.
Everything does look original. You did good.

Here is what I see....
Original Leaning Post.
Original Instrument and Switch Panels on the console.
Looks like Original Console Rod Holders.
Replacement 94 qt Igloo Marine Cooler.
Optional Original Grab Rails.
Original Masthead Light.
Original Stern Light.

One thing I had forgotten about on some of the earlier Outrage models.
Removable Bow Steps....
I am going to do a little research and find out what year they incorporated the built-in bow steps on the Outrage 20' and possible the 22'.... I think the 18' always had built-in bow steps.
I kinda like the storage you get in the removable bow steps........

OK, I did a little research on the removable bow steps.
Apparently these were used only in the Outrage 20' models and from 1980 to 1986.
It is possible that the removable steps were also in the 1987 model but I cannot confirm this.
The 1988 model Outrage 20' definitely has the built-in bow steps.
Just for the record......

P.S. I put your photos in your Personal Page for you. All you have to do is put in a title and label the photos....

Thanks Joe

I was actually thinking of removing those bow steps because I think it looks better without them. The edge trim around the steps is an ugly brown plastic that looks like rusty metal. Maybe I'll try a cream color or black to see how that looks. It's just a push on type of trim that I should be able to buy cheap. They might look better if I put teak doors on them too.

I pulled out a couple of the drain tubes that were below the water line and it seems to me that no water was getting into the hull. When it was in the water, the water line was about 4 inches out of the water.

I ordered new drain tubes, o-rings, and the flaring tools today.
The motor runs good too.

I will fix up my personal page soon.

Roger,

Congrats on the boat. I know you will enjoy it. What Hp is the Motor. I can not make it out.

Any how, if you ever get rid of that OEM leaning post let me know. I am on the look out for one.

Thanks Jeff,

It's a 185 hp Johnson. And it runs really good.
But I have no idea if it was ever rebuilt.

You will be the first to know if I decide to take out the leaning post.

185..that was what I thought however, I never new they made a 185 in the mid 80's. What year is the motor. To bad you still do not live in the Detroit Area as you could have the great pleasure of having Dave over at Lockemans service your motor.

I was told it was from about 1984 and it says 185 on it. The serial # is 5972593.
I will be in MI again for a week in mid July. But I don't think I want to bring the motor with me. lol

WOW, Roger! That is a sweet boat! A beautiful model! Once your elbow grease is applied, I'm sure you're going to have some great time on the water with that one. Congrats!

Take it from a guy who just purchased an "a lot worse" '83, your boat is in very good shape! BTW, here's a link to a page that will help decode your engine model number and tell you what year it is, very useful:

Enjoy the boat!

Thanks guys. I'm having someone paint the bottom and service the motor this week. Then I have to install all the drain tubes and polish it up a bit before I put it in the water. Won't be long now. Grin
Thanks for the link Derwd24
