I have a 2005 170 and would like to add bow cleats. The boat is in rack storage most of the season except for 2 weeks in the Outer Banks. We rent a water front home that has a slip. Their is a bulkhead with 2 pilings about 20 foot out. My thought is it would be easier tying off to two cleats instead of the one in the middle? I don't have much experience keeping a boat at a dock and was wondering if my thinking is correct?
If I understand you correctly, you can tie up stern-to the bulkhead, and run two bow lines from the center bow cleat to the two pilings, or you could tie up bow-to the bulkhead, and run two lines from your stern to the pilings.
Dan your correct, Sal, yes, thats how my boat wold fit into the slip. I guess I can tie her off from the single bow cleat. My thought is a cleat on the port and starboard side might be better?
