Twin gas tanks

I didn't want to inject any more water into it until all holes were plugged and I got in a new drain pipe. Foam is replaced and buttoned up the deck, so she's watertight (topsides at least!) Phase 2: drain pipe repair The drain pipe from the drainwell to the transom was gone. There was nothing in there but foam. I glassed in two pipes, one inside the other, from the drainwell to the transom. I'm pleased with it. As the hull is taking shape, I've been thinking of how to set up the motor. I'm planning on mounting the battery in a box over the drainwell, installing a 7 1/2 gal. tank on either side of it, and a fuel/water filter somewhere on the inside of the transom. I also plan on building a seat to go over all this. My question is when you're running two tanks, do you use a quick-disconnect at the tank end, and switch it when you run out of fuel, or do you put in a Y-valve of some sort? Some of the earlier Montauks had some wood blocks underneath the seat that held the pivot rods in place. The later Montauks did not have these wood blocks. In either case, I would still raise the RPS 2 inches (or more if a person is taller than 6 feet). This will allow the gas tanks to fit easily under the seat and also provide a more comfortable seating height. I used a full 2 inch thick piece of teak and shaped it like the bottom of the RPS Z Legs.... It is very easy to do.
