I am thinking about replacing the original 1992 evinrude 150 with a 150 four stroke. Does anyone know if the handling of the boat would be significantly effected by 100 pounds of extra weight on back (the current engine weighs 375 lbs.)? Boat weighs 1925 lbs. Thanks.

When I went from a 115 to a 150, it added over 100 lbs. I notice a little when at rest or drifting. I don't notice at all when moving.

Which motor are you thinking about?
Where did you get 1925 pounds for your boat?

go to the hardware store and grab two 50# bags of rocks or sand and toss it in the boat as far toward the stern as you can. Then go for a ride

Thanks for input. I have a feeling my boat will be fine with the added weight.

Thanks for the info. I was incorrect, it is 1900 pounds. I was looking at the wrong line on the info sheet. I am thinking yamaha or suzuki fourstroke due to reputation and recommendations from friends who have both. Also noticed some years of the suzuki have a 175 that weighs the same as a 150. May step up the horsepower as there doesn't seem to be much down side. I am not sure my model is rated for 150 and the earlier and lighter 18 can hold more weight and horsepower on the back.

Thanks for the suggestion. Seems so obvious and yet I didn't think of that. How do you like the 175 Etec on your 18?

The Outrage 18' and the Outrage 19' and 19' II are all rated for max hp of 150.
