I bought a Rage with some engine issues because of the Boston Whaler reputation and the thought of a small jet boat for the shallow water. It doesn't appear to be a favorite as I didn't find a rage listed on this site. If anyone can offer some direction in repairing this boat, I'd appreciate it. Is there a replacement for the troubled OMC? Will an electric motor move this boat OK?
The rage does not get much love from the Whaler folks...The OMC turbojets are notorious for problems. The handling (like any single powered jetboat) is horrible at slow speed.
Many people will pull the jet drive out and put a bracket and outboard on the back. I have seen a few that were converted to a merc sport jet (and some factory sprot jets as well) - You can repair the motor no issue - its the drive that gets complicated. The motor is basically a v4 outboard powerhead.
It might help if you list the model - 115 or 90hp - Also you might want to take the time to describe the problems you are having.
