I'm re-wiring my console and will be buying new switches. I only need 3 of them for now (bilge, nav/anchor light, and deck lights). Should I use 3 position pull switches OR rocker switches.
Thanks

Bilge is a 3 position (auto, off, on)
Navigation lights is also 3 position (running, off, anchor)
Deck lights is a 2 position.

Push/pull switches (i.e. cole-hersey) are easier to install with less cutting of the panel.

I used Blue Sea's 4 bank rocker switches with fuses and a separate bilge switch. See my personal page.

Thanks Phil T. That's exactly the comparison I'm looking for. Just wondering if the 3 position pull switch will be in my way when fully extended in "on" position.

I recall the original instrument panel came with two push/pull switches. One of the two on the Outrage was a 3 way for the console mounted anchor light.

All Classic Outrage and Montauks had the Pull Switches.

Here is a panel on an Outrage model.

Here is another photo. The Nav Light is 3 position. The compass is only on/off

Around 1996 they changed to the rocker switches.
I am still trying to determine which models had the changeover to rocker switches first and what year(s) for the different models.

We have one member stating he has a 3 way toggle switch that was original to his 1995 Dauntless 13'
http://www.whalercentral.com/forum/vi...;pid=99070

And in the same post above, a member with a 2000 Montauk 17' says he has the same toggle switch.

I have never seen that toggle switch on a Montauk before so apparently I wasn't paying attention or that isn't the original switch.

I cannot find any photos in the members personal pages that shows such a toggle switch.
Anyone have anymore information on this?

I too am in the process of a re-wire. I am replacing the switches on the panel -

The original 3 position Nav & Anchor has 4 terminals.

The only 3 position Cole-Hersee i can find is a 3 terminal.

Will this work?

I have one white wire coming into the 4th terminal.

Got it - when in doubt use an ohm meter.

Figured out the wiring, I bought the wrong switch -

Should be the Cole - Hersee M-532 Push pull switch, 3-circuit
