Ok this may be a stupid question but I just removed the cover to my carburetor intake and there is no air filter. Should there be an air filter there? I was out on the river going about 20 mph and went to reduce my speed and the throttle would not move, It was stuck at 20 mph. Thank God I was in the middle of the river. I turned the motor off, looked everything over good and then took off the "air filter cover" and there was no air filter but what I did find in 2 bolts with 8 stamped on them down in the carb intake jamming the throttle. I was glad they didnt go all the way down and into the piston. Has anyone else had a problem with their bolts coming loose? It looks like they are holding the "air filter" housing onto the motor. They didnt have any lock washers. Any comments are appreciated.
No air filters on those motors. As for the bolts coming loose.....find out where they came from and reinstall them. I take my engine cover off before each trip to lance over the motor and look for anything obvious tht could be wrong. Also I take a screw driver and tighten down all I can every few months or so.

You found out why when you remove the intake and carbs to rebuild them, some bolts are supposed to be installed with thread locker. Were the carbs worked on recently?
