Anyone out there have this setup with an F115 and willing to give me the data dump on performance? I Currently have an 1989 Yamaha 130 and was pleased with the performance (prior to needing a new motor) I got out of that power.

Thanks,

Luke

Same here. 1981 18 Outrage with a 1993 Yamaha 130. Will need to repower next spring and curious if a 115 can do the job. Currently am very pleased with the performance with the 130 but will it be accepatable with 115?

x 3, except I hope my 1988 130 hp freshwater yami holds together for a while. Is the weight close on both outboards ? I am sure you both will like the fuel mileage alot better. Alot of people who run in the big water never really get much of an opportunity to open it up so the lower horsepower is o.k. It would also be nice not to listen to the "Chainsaw" on the back of my boat. lol

My freind Tony, a.k.a Elaelap, from ContinuousWave, had this setup and posted alot of details. See the links inside this post too.

See: http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum4/...07181.html

It worked very well for him.

Having owned a Yamaha F115 on a Outrage 17 for 7 years, I would suggest a lighter model e. g. ETEC. While it was super reliable, quiet and a great performer, the 402lbs dry weight is a bit much for an engine in this class

See the article on engine choices:

I recently repowered my 1985 Guardian 18 with a 2005 F115 TXRD. I really like it so far. No question she has less hole shot than the old J150 that was on the back when I bought the boat this summer. I can cruise in the mid to high 20s mph (around 4500 rpm), with WOT mid 30s (around 5500 rpm). I need to get better data this spring when weather permits.

I have a 1985 18' Outrage with a F115 Yamaha. This boat came new with a 115 yamaha 2-stroke and was very fast, but I had many issues with oil injection system and fuel/carb problems. About 5 years ago I went to the 4 stroke and have been totally happy with the speed and overall performance. The battery is in the splash well, and I have no kicker. The stern does sit a little lower. The motor is mounted all the way down, as that is what the dealer did and I was not as educated as I am from reading here, so the performance could probably be improved. I never feel the need to run wide open for more than a few seconds, and cannot see what a 130 or 150 would do unless you are carrying a very heavy load. Prop is stainless 13.75x17 [I am not near the boat, that is from memory]
