So I just picked up an old 16 hull. No smirk, blue interior, rectangle (tiny!) anchor locker, and it has a cable routing tunnel for a center console. The hull is solid and light, its about to get a 100% makeover including a smallish custom center console and cooler seat/leaning post setup. I want to keep it simple, roomy, light, and efficent. It will serve mostly as a beach runner in coastal Georgia with some fishing thrown in. It will see creeks, sounds, and some nearshore ocean with mostly calm but occasionally severe conditions and needs to carry 4 adults plus gear comfortably. I'm going with a new Yamaha but can't decide between the F90 or the F70 which is 109lbs lighter and about a grand cheaper than the 90. Looking for input. Thanks!!
For 4 adults and gear, you will want the 90. Lightly loaded that hull will move along pretty well with the 70, but as you add passangers, performance will decrease quickly. 4 adults weight about the same as the bare hull by itself.
Carrying four adults plus gear comfortably is another matter all together.
