I need a favor from someone with a 40hp - 130hp E-Tec (V4 gearcase). Could someone give me an accurate measurement vertically from the bottom of the anti-ventilation plate to the center of the lowest transom mounting hole on the motor? That's the hole that would be used for the lower mounting bolts if the motor was raised to its highest setting on the transom.
Thanks.

Does a 2 cylinder 40 have the same gearcase as the 2.0 liter V-4 130?
Seems unlikely, and the 130 gearcase would be too large for a 40 to handle efficiently. It would need smaller propellers.
This is done on all of the other brands.

I won't ask why you want to know this.
However, the holes in your transom should be drilled to the BIA Standard. Unless you intend to drill new holes in your transom?

It's the same size from 40hp to 130 with the E-Tec's. They are unique in this regard. However, in looking at the photos I now realize two things:
1. The lower mounting bracket has a slot and not holes, so please measure from the bottom of the anti-ventilation plate to the bottom of this vertical slot.
2. The dimensions may be slightly different on the larger motors so this probably needs to be measured on a 40 - 60 hp motor.
Did I mention already that this needs to be a long (20" shaft motor?

I don't believe the BIA Standard determines the position of the AV plate relative to the mounting holes.

If the distance you are asking for is the same for a 40hp and a 130 hp, then sure it does. It would be all the same according to the BIA Standard mounting holes.
If holes are all drilled using the BIA Standard, then what are you trying to accomplish?
Even though the bottom mounting position may be slotted, we still have to use the top mounting bolt holes. What's the difference?
4 holes in top and holes in bottom
or
4 holes in top and slots in the bottom?
You would still have to mount it using the top mounting holes.

Yes, it does. The 20" shaft length Evinrude 130 uses an intermediate size gearcase (4-1/4") as does the Evinrude 40. The same propellers will fit either.

Ric,
I was thinking something else.
I think I see what you are comparing now.

Joe,
I figured you would. I thought it best that I simply ask the question rather than try to explain (yet) or else risk creating a virtually viral thread on why I need the info and alternative ways to accomplish my goal. I'm 99.9% sure I need the information I've asked for.
Again, it would be best if someone provided this dimension from a late model 40-60hp E-Tec. A difference of even 1/2" is significant.

I guess we just have to wait an be patient until someone can measure their motor for you.

I measured from the bottom of the a/v to the bottom slot, 8 3/4 inches. I put a bolt in the bottom slot as a template and measured to the middle of the bolt, motor was trimmed down all the way. Let me know if you want pictures. Hope this helps. 60 HP 2011 ETEC.
