Also try realgas.com..I found two stations here in northern NY that sell 91 octane non-ethanol fuel. This is what I use for the Johnson,my old bikes, car lawnmower..anything with a carb.
I also read that the older two stroke outboards, (my 88Johnson120VR0) don't like or require 91 octane..I've only been able to find 91,nothing lower. I stand to be corrected here on the higher octane issue. Hope this helps..
John

Population density, I would imagine.

It has nothing to do with population density. It is determined by air quality standards and attainment.

Just got back for Spanish Wells Bahamas ALL the gas over there is 100% gas cost 5.35 a gallon and 5.15 for diesel, sounds high? gas is over $4 a gallon here in South Fla and it has ethanol,,,I think they are getting a better deal.

My opinion on ethanol has been stated here before, but here is an interesting "fact". I live in MD and not far from the PA line so when I started searching for real gas I clicked on PA first thinking they would be the best source. Not one place in PA is listed as selling real gas, so I checked Md. Most are on Eastern shore and or marinas so I stopped into one in Berlin near OC MD on the highway and bought 15 gals at about 20cents a gallon more than the eth/gas [they sold both] probably a service to their farm customers. Talking to the owner I comented about the scarce availability and mentioned not being able to find anyplace in PA to buy it. He was pretty surprised at that because his supplier was located in PA. All I can say is I run it in my small equiptment all the time and in my outboards at the end of each season.

In talking to several marina owners in the NY/CT area they say their distributors dont offer pure gas as the state does not permit in-state suppliers from providing it for roadway use. I dont know if that is true or not, but the marina I visited in upsate NY (Lake Champlain) told me they have to get their pure gas from Canada (40 miles away) as no NY based distributors are allowed to offer it. That might explain why Long Island and southern NY area does not have any pure gas marinas.
