Does anyone know the transom angle on 17' montauk classic ('79)? I am mounting a transducer and need to preset the mounting bracket angle. from the looks of the installation instructions it should be fun...

The transom angle on my Nauset looks to be + or - 16 degrees....not sure if they changed that along the way...let's assume they didn't. That angle in relation to the water level is different depending on whom or what I've got in the boat at any given moment , or what size wave comes rolling along....I've had a Hbird 'ducer mounted back there for years with great results and don't remember that I had to "set" any particular angle for it to work properly....I suppose in theory you'd want it pointing straight down, but with the boat bobbin' around like a cork I don't see how it could be practically done.....I'd give Humminbird a call about that one if there instructions say your HAVE to....otherwise I'd just mount it even with the hull and go! Make sure you bed the mounting screws in some marine sealer to prevent water entry...Good Luck!

I'm putting the same unit on My Montauk this week. There was an older transducer on the boat already. It looks parallel to the floor while the boat is on the trailer.
