I have a 2000 5 HP Honda outboard short shaft and I would like to make it into a long shaft to put on my 17' Montauk. Is it worth it? If so, what would the expense be?
I think a short answer would be NO! The procedure to extend the shaft length will consist of lengthening the outer housing, main shaft and shifting linkage as well as the exhaust tube for the water pump. This can all be done but locating all the parts necessary at a reasonable price would probably be pricey.
