Well I went out this weekend and bought my first 13' Whaler. I've wanted one since I was kid and I finally did it. GrinGrin

I picked up a 1985 13' Whaler with a 1998 Johnson 30 and 1998 Galvanized trailer. She will need a little polishing and her wood redone (winter projects). I plan on putting her in the river one day this week and taking a nice long cruise to see what she can do. The boat is really bare bones simple. Pull start motor, no battery, no running lights. Im not sure how long thats all going to last but I will save that for the repairs forum. Wink

Here are some pics. (click on the pics to make them bigger)

Thanks Jeff! - I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. I took the transom straps off and was able to lift the whole rear of the boat in the air. I can't imagine it being too easy to get this thing stuck to the point that I cant get it out.

When people say that the 13 Whaler is a great little boat they aren't kidding!

I love my resent 130 Sport but think my first old 13'er, with all the spider cracks, weather beaten wood, cable steering and old 25hp 2 stroke Johnson, holds the fondest memories of any Whaler I've owned.

Now spash that little guy, have some fun, and make some memories. Grin

I am on my second 13 which is a project for me and my 2 sons to put back into shape. They certainly are a ton of fun! My first was unofficially named the "kidney punch" because we would hop waves and just beat the heck out of it... it never failed, could take anything a cocky kid could give it, and was perfect when I sold it. Those are the fond memories that whalers create!

I had her out this morning on the Mullica River. Ran like a top. What a great little boat. Caught about 6 perch in an hour then loaded up and headed into work. I was amazed at how easy the boat was to load and unload.

Scott,

BRP sells a Remote Electric Start Kit for that motor.
I'm not sure how much it cost, but you might want to check it out on BRP's online parts catalog.

Look under OB Accessories and then your year and model....

Those Johnson's are great motors.

Thanks for the link Joe. They do have a kit for that and for the trim too. I really have to think about what I am going to do. There is certainly a great degree of simplicity to this boat and Im wondering if for the first time in my life I should just keep it simple.... More than likely I wont SmileSmile... but I can dream.
