I am looking for some prop suggestions for the new outboard? I have both a Laser II and a Vensura which I will try, assuming I can find a hub kit that works. I purchased the correct Flo-Torq kit but it wouldn't line up with the splines. I will swap that one and try again. If I can't get the Flo-Torq kit to work, I may be swapping to another brand, just looking for suggestions if I need to go that route. I could always grab am aluminum prop from the dealer for testing and breakin.

Thanks

Kamie,

I have heard of the Flo-Torq aft adapters not fitting the BRP shafts well. I think Jim Hebert had to try about seven of them at his dealer before one would fit. The spline count if the same as are all the angles, but there is some machining variation of the splines that makes them just a tad tight on some of them.

I have also heard rumor that the Michigan XHS hubs work better in this respect. I have not verified that myself but I do know the XHS and the Flo-Torq are interchangeable.

Keep trying; those props you have are too good to not at least try out.

I also know that Andy Gere used a Flo-Torq kit on his E-Tec with no trouble on the very first try.

Thanks Tom, the way my luck is going I will never get it to fit? Are you saying I could try a Michigan XHS hub? That might be a better option?

kamie,

The OMC/BRP dealer I have work on my boat up here (Lockeman's) Recommends the Michigan XHS props over the Flo-Torq's for the E-Tec's they sell.

The really nice thing about the XHS hubs is that they do a great job of protecting your wheel and lower unit during an impact. The hub is made to fail during a serve blow thus saving all the more expensive parts. If that occurs it is a quick and painless fix to put a new hub in (slides in place) and great back underway. The hubs are not that expensive either (in relative boating terms) and are easy to carry spares of.

I will try and swap the Merc for the XHS hub and see how that goes.

I managed to swap for the last XHS hub on the shelf. Lets hope that works, or I am picking up at least an aluminum prop to get some water time in with.
