My 2009, 90HP Mercury on my Montauk left me stranded in the Chesapeake Bay today. After running for about an hour in cut out on me and would not restart. After several tries, it started and I gave it some gas but it ran rough sputtered and died again. I'm thinking, and "hoping" it's just a fuel filter. My question is, How difficult is it to replace the gas filter in my Mercury engine? Does anyone know of any you tube type videos that will show me "how to"? I was not able to find one on the you tube site.
the inline filter is under the cowling. I doubt you need a video, it's not hard, get a new one, match the orientation of the current one, slip off the hose clamps, then reverse the process.
I would replace the filter and get fresh gas and see how she runs.
Thanks for the reply. Having a hard time finding a replacement filter. Mine does not have the barbed ends that slip in the gas line and have hose clamps. My fuel lines have quick connect fittings on each side of the filter and they just click onto the hose ends.
