Montauk Rear Seat

I want to make my Montauk more of a family boat so I am thinking of picking up one of the Montauk seats.

Anyone have pictures of one installed? I would like to know if there are any clearance issues like side rails. My other concern is drilling into the floor.

I purchased my seat from Anderson Mfg. It came with the proper OEM style mounting hardware which attaches the seat to the gunnels. it only has one folding support leg in the middle. When I'm fishing without the family I just take the seat out and put the cooler back in. I don't think I would want to screw anything to the floor. I will try to take some pics, I should be on the boat later today.

Is there a website for Anderson Mfg? I thought they were in the Boston area? Do they still supply the rear seats? I thought Specialty Marine was the only supplier of these?
Interested in possibly getting one next season....

You beat me to it I was trying to look them up but all I could find was an e-mail address. I would love it if they were less than the $750 that Marine is asking.
So far I have not found too many good pics. This is the only one I liked and I really like how there are no legs to screw into the floor and it appears it can be easliy removed with the spin of a screw.

Pretty sure Anderson is in Florida but I could be wrong, They shipped to me in NY. They have a website, it's listed in the vendors web links section of WC. I don't think they're any cheaper than specialty. I purchased a full cushion set from them and they were great to deal with over the phone and very accommodating my special requests. Pics in link above is the same set up I have.

This is a little ghetto, but I just built a seat from the rail to the splashwell using extra pieces of PVC trim from a home improvement project. Cheap and easy, and works great while fishing. Acts as a step, too.

Look on my personal page for photos of OEM rear seat and mounting hardware. I put those up as I could not find any good photos of it either.
The OEM seat has a middle folding leg. and brackets that mount on the side.

We are talking about a Montauk 17 not a 170 correct? Is the seat the same? Does it fit both? Looks like it in Lucky's personal page. Doubt it would have fit in my Newport, but looks a lot more comfy. Also lookss like it takes up a considerable amount of space?

I just saw this post. I'm in the final stages of finishing a new teak stern seat for a 1993 Montauk. The seat is designed to be a seat and a fishing platform. The material price was roughly $400. I've still got to build swing down legs for internal support. I also want to add a removal cushion. See my personal Page for photos.
I plan on doing a detailed Project Album when all work is finished.

I did come up with the design myself. Thanks for the compliment!
I expect to have this project completely finished with snap on cushions toward the middle to end of summer. I will post a detailed project album, as I believe many may be interested.

Ok, yours is a little nicer.
I love the design as the "headrests" fold down and fit the splashwell. Clever!
Why slotted rather than solid? Not a critique, just wondering what the thought was behind the decision.

I wanted the shape to take advantage of the majority of the rear area when used as a fishing platform,... less room for the cables, etc.
It's slotted because of the rear weight concern. The seat is currently weighs approximately 55 pounds. If the seat were solid, the weight would increase to approximately 80-90 pounds. Also, by being slotted, the air flow is greater; thus, keeping the area dryer.
