I took the girlfriend and 3 other friends out king salmon fishing today, we got up at 02:30 and made coffee and left the house at 03:00 for the 1.5hr drive to Humboldt bay. We were underway and heading out of the jetty by 05:00 at first light. we ended up with 15 hookups and only 3 didn't get landed. 4 were undersize and we came home with 8 keepers, only 2 fish shy of our limit. They have to be 22 inches or bigger, we had 2 over 32" one 23.5 and the other 5 were 26-28" We trolled the downriggers with 2 rigs stacked on each side using herring on rotators and some Apex lures, The Apexes outfished the bait about 2-1, and the side with the watermellon flasher outfished the side with the blue/silver flasher about 2-1 also.
