I have a 2000 5hp Honda short shaft want to use kicker on my 1988 Montauk bought a garlic motor bracket to put on boat to drop motor the mechanic says I dont need it . I looked the way the motor is sitting on port side there is no way it would work in rough water he says he talked to whaler and they say it will so did not mount bracket says to try it has anyone run into this type of issue I cannot afford a long shaft and already had motor that my dad used and gave to me before he passed on. Thanks for any input Tim
I am in the same "boat". I have a short shaft on hand and would like to hear from anyone who has tried this. I popped it on the back of the boat one day and it looks low enough. Anyone with a short shaft on their montauk?
