I have an old 1990 Evinrude Tracker motor. Its a 2 stroke and I PRE MIX THE OIL and GAS!

1) Which is better to use for the motor?

2) Can you mix them together...meaning I have 12 gallons of gas and I finished out the TC W3 but it's only 9 ounces left, so can I make up the difference with 23 ounces of XD 50?

3) 87 octane or 89?

THANKS!

You should be able to mix, as the XD50 is 50% synthetic I believe. As for better, I use xd100 in my etecs only so I can get the computer to give me the better efficiency. I'm not sure I would spend the xtra $ for a 90s motor. The TCW-3 should be fine, the mix should be no different.

1) I would say the more expensive grade of oil is better. That being said , I have always used TCW-3 walmart brand. For the amount of boating that I get to do, its has worked fine. There has not been any ill affects that I am aware of.

2) I would not mix the oil unless you already have the XD50 ( to expensive to not use )

3) I have always ran 87 octane through my 2 strokes ( mercury, yamaha, johnson did not matter )

That old motor would be so overjoyed to get a shot of XD-50 it may jump off the boat.

Personally I would call my local Evinrude dealer and ask?
Not sure using XD50 would be worth the extra money

For a 23 year old Evinrude Tracker two stroke, do not waste money on expensive oil or gas, use TCW3 and 87 octane gasoline. This is what the manufacturer designed the motor for and precisely what they recommend using. It will be just fine.

My impression was that Michael had 23 ounces of XD-50 on hand and wanted to know if it was safe to use it mixed with TCW3. I agree it would make no economic sense to buy XD-50 to use in his engine, TCW3 is an excellent product for his well broken in engine.
