The main wire that connects to the red plug was chewed through and cut a few of these wires. I am not sure if I should reconnect or just replace since they sit low and would be exposed to water. What is the cable called that all the wires run though from the ignition and what length should I buy"?
Your post is a little lacking on the details, mainly what motor you are talking about. But I assume it is the 1985 Evinrude 70HP from other threads.
Is this the wire you are talking about: http://www.whalercentral.com/images/a...arness.jpg
That would be the "engine harness". The BRP parts catalog shows it as part number 0395186 and calls it the "Motor Cable Assembly". Boats.net says it is obsolete. They come up on EBAY from time to time. I'm not sure what other similar harness would be compatible or easily modifiable to work. Contact your local BRP dealer.
I don't recommend patching it together. If your splice fails, you could be dead in the water.
