After my fiasco with my 1990 looper (long story) I hauled it to a BRP dealer in my home town for the winter. The dealer is the oldest in Canada and apparently the 2nd oldest next to Lockmans in Detroit in NA, so they say. Turns out there's no cross hatching left, lots of piston slap with no way to hold the lubrication and numerous other problems. It needed a rebuild. It was simply old and well used...much like me.
They have a 2002 Evinrude 225 they rebuilt on spec with a new EMM and co-incidentally has a 25 inch shaft Everything's been updated to BRP specs
So I bought it last week.
They're hanging it next week and I have questions for you. A number of years ago a whaler friend found a new Springfield 10 inch bracket in a Michigan warehouse and sent it to me. I never installed it since at the same time I raised my console 6 inches without need of any new rigging, so there was no slack for a 10 inch bracket. Now's the time to do so.
I'm asking about the motor mounting height? Typically we want the motor all holes up on a standard transom but what happens when the bracket is installed? What should I look for?
