Does anyone know if Oak Bluffs has moorings that can be used hourly. I was planning a quick trip over with the family for a few hours and can't find any information on the Oak Bluff's Harbor website regarding hourly use. Thanks

Not to my knowledge, but give the harbor master a quick call. It's been a few years, but they have(had) about 50' of public pier tie-up that fills up pretty quickly. Boats tend to raft up to one another and you end up with a situation of people walking across your boat. Not horrible, not wonderful. The public area is in a great location next to the dinghy dock in the back left of the harbor right next to the action.

Oak Bluffs is the toughest harbor on the island to just pop into as it is a busy little town with a busy little harbor. Not too many moorings and always seem to be full. Unfortunately, dropping the hook outside the harbor isn't the best either. The next closest option is vineyard haven. I've never heard of hourly moorings on the island but there is plenty of anchor space in the outer harbor. It's a bit of a hike but you can walk to Oak Bluffs from there.

If you are not familiar, Edgartown is a great little town to visit with plenty of space to drop the hook.

Hope this helps...assuming you didn't go 3 months ago"

Edgartown is a great place to visit and the last time I was there we simply hopped the bus to Oak Bluffs. It was an easy short ride.
