Hi, one that will give good performance . I have tried the viper 17p and she barely gets to 5300 rpm with the engine all the way up on the mounting bolts and trimmed out. I would like to get the engine to 5600 rpm or as close to it as possible, in the optimal range. Thanks for your input in advance.
Dropping form a 17" Viper to a 15" Viper will gain you 300-400 RPM. As it turns out, there is no such thing as a 15" Viper but there is a 14-3/4” x 16" Viper, part #763912 which would gain you 150-200 RPM which would put you at 5450-5500 RPM.
To drop to a 15" BRP prop you would need to go to the 15" x 15" SSP. This is the old SST design and I do not like for this boat/motor combination.
You could also try a 14-1/4" x 13" Stiletto Advantage 4.75 which I think would put you at 5700 RPM. Maybe too high.
I am actually surprised the 17" Viper is not allowing more RPM.
