Right now I have a group 24 die hard installed by the p o,
as a start battery for my '91, 20 horse Johnson. Seems like a lot of battery for this application & a lot of extra weight to be carrying around in the stern of my 11' BW. So what size battery would you reccommend?
Any input will be appreciated.
Do you run any other lights, stereo, etc on the battery, or just the motor? If it is just the motor and running lights you dont need a very large battery at all, 3-400 CCA would be plenty.
My friend has a 25hp Mercury, and running lights to fish, a stereo, running lights, etc, will run the battery down after a couple hours of running even with the motor running
I have a 13' 1963 40 hp evenrude i only use a motor cycle battery runs radio lights and cranks motor every time & by doing this i removed a lot of LBS from the transom and no problems. My sons are out on Lake Okeechobee speck fising as I type this Chuck
