I just picked up an oil-injected 90hp Mercury outboard. This oil-injection is new to me. After adding new oil I successfully bled air from the line between the oil tank and the oil pump. The line fromthe oil pump to the fuel pump, however, was still filled with air. The Merc. manual for the engine recommends running the engine at an easy idle to bleed this line. How long is safe to run the engine waiting for air to bleed from this line? If the oil pump is shot I'm considering nixing the whole oil-injection thing and pre-mixing my gas as I've always done with my boats. What are the concerns/recommendations in doing this?

You may need a mechinic to take it off. But if you know the pump is bad I would say mix your own. The oil systems are nice and much more reliable of systems of old. But bottom line is a 90 hp is pretty easy to mix oil for. When I say easy you will not be buying 100 gallons of gas at a time
To be completely safe, run premixed now while you determine the status of the pump. If it's working, double oil for a bit won't hurt anything, and if it's not, you've headed off trouble. Given that you just picked the engine up and don't know the history, it's better safe than sorry.

Thanks guys, ran the boat again yesterday WITH THE MIX. I felt safe letting it run; it ran great. After a time I started to see oil moving up towards the fuel pump. This week I'll look at the lower unit and gear fluid. *fingers crossed*
