We have taken the 21 outrage out in humboldt bay twice now. The first trip me and a friend put out 4 crab pots for 2 hours and got about 100 dungeness crabs, the limit is 10/person/day, so we took the biggest 20 (all over 7 inch). Yesterday we went out again with my girlfriend and my mom, crabbing was not as good, we only got 21 that were legal (5.75". When we came back it was low tide and the mudflats were exposed so I ran the bow aground and went out for about 15 minutes and dug clams, I dug 8 horsenecks and 5 butter clams. We are going out again tomorrow for more crabs.
Now that I got both motors running good and the throttles open all the way the motors are over-reving they are supposed to be between 4750-5250rpm, they run to 5700. I just ordered a pair of 3 blade 13x21 props to replace the 13x19s. The previous owner had the throttles limited to about 3/4 throttle. I just replaced one trim motor and pump, now the other motors tilt cyl is leaking. Parts are on the way, it uses about a tablespoon of oil a day so I will run it till the parts get here later this week.
Nice!
I'm living in the wrong part of So Cal!
I took my little Whaler to Irvine lake for her last fresh water shake down.
That DF70 is finally debugged!
I trolled for 6 hrs not a hitch or a fish, and at Irvine?
The only issue was the cowling rattles around 1300RPM!
I have a fix for that. The dual down riggers worked out great, except I failed to hook a fish!
Next week, I'm going to long beach to fish the wall, maybe bounce ball form some butt!
I have got to get that SKUNK off my boat!
She was damm near the nicest boat out there on the water getting skunked
