I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I am in the process of purchasing a 2005 200 hp E-TEC. I believe it weighs 524 lbs with is a substantial jump from my 175 2 stroke Evinrude Ocean Runner. I just moved the batteries to the center console and was wondering if there is anything else I should be doing to prepare the boat. Has anyone else repowered a 22' Outrage with the E-TEC 3.3 block, What kind on numbers will I be looking at for fuel consumption and speed ?
Thanks

See our article on "Current Engine Choices and Weights"
http://www.whalercentral.com/articles...icle_id=30
I personally would choose the standard 200 HP model which weighs in at 433 pounds.
There are several other members here that also chose this model over the High Output version that weighs in at 503 pounds..
Also, what year is your Outrage 22' ?
The only V-22 model was made in 1979.

The Outrage 22' was made from 1980 to 1993.

These models have a max hp rating of 240 so maybe a 225hp would be a better choice for you rather than a 200 HO which weighs only a few pounds more than the HO model.
Depends on your need for speed and how you use your boat...
NOTE:
Evinrude site states two different weights for the 200 HO model.
503 pounds and 524 pounds. Both are 25 inch Long Shaft motors and I do not know why there are different weights.

Doug V has done this exact repower with his Outrage 22:

He is very pleased with the performance of the used 2005 E-TEC 200 3.3 he bought for his boat. Perhaps he will chime in.

I have not had the engine on the boat for an entire year yet. So far it has proven to be a very good engine.
At the end of October I winterized it using the self winterizing feature. Lat week I started for the first time since October. As I expected, a touch of the ignition switch and I had a perfectly idling engine.
Concerning the weight, I believe it is actually listed at 549 pounds. I also added a jackplate, a power tilt for the kicker engine and an electric start 15 hp Evinrude. The static trim is down at the stern a little, but not much
You can check out my personal page pictures.

Doug,
What weight does your Engine manual state?
The Evinrude website list 2 different weights for the 200 HO...
1. E200DHX = 503 pounds, 25 inch shaft
2. E200HCX = 524 pounds, 25 inch shaft
Both have the same gear ratio also.
Those are the weights we have listed in our article and what is listed on the Evinrude website here:
http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/Engines...TEC_200_HO
Would be nice to know if your manual states something different and then we would know if the website is incorrect...

Joe,
Doggone it, my memory does not seem to be what it use to be. 524 pounds does ring a bell. I have the shop manual out in my shop. I will check it and report back this weekend.

Joe,
I checked the shop manual and can confirm that the 3.3 liter 25" shaft Etec weight is listed at 524 pounds.

Thanks for confirming Doug...
Now I would like to know why the other 200 HO weighs less when everything obviously listed is the same.....?
