I have a pair of 115 mercury ser# 0Cxxxxxx on my 74 whaler 21 outrage. one of my power trim motors was running really slow, if you tapped it with a hammer it would run normally for a little while. I just took the trim motor off and of course the brushes were worn out. The motor was completely full of oil, is that normal? or is the pump/motor seal bad too?
I ordered a new motor/pump assembly, should be here tomorrow. I will keep the old one as a backup. The brush card is no longer available from Mercury so I will have to machine some bigger brushes down to size if I can't find the right ones. Two of the three bolts attaching the transom bracket to the trim assy broke off trying to remove them so I am still trying to remove whats left. I heated, Kroiled, and tapped them with a hammer yesterday, hopefully I can get them to move with visegrips today.
