My friend Billy and I went out on my 25 Outrage yesterday for some Striper fishing. The Trophy season is in full swing now that the water temp is 60 degrees. We started at 2:00pm south east of Thomas Point trolling towards the eastern shore. The weather and sea conditions were nearly perfect. The only problem was the fish weren't cooperating. We continued south and after a couple hours the deep corner line starts going off, fish on!
MY first fish of the summer, 29".....We then turned north as the winds and waves picked up. If you look carefully in the background you'll see one of my yellow planer boards. They were struggling to stay in position due to the deteriorating sea conditions. Luckily we didn't have any failures, they can be tricky in poor conditions....Later in the afternoon we were joined by Mike (msl) in his 25 Outrage with twin 150 Opti's....Fish on!

How Big is the fish?

Nice looking Outrage!
Thats Mike behind the helm and a 41" Trophy Rockfish his crew boated the fish. In the background you can see the Chesapeake Bay bridge and a view of the eastern shore, Maryland. Maybe Mike will chime in with more details.
I have been hearing the susqy flats have been off this spring so good to hear about some success. Was planning a trip up to flats but will wait an fish lower bay with my katama. Hope the trout bite comes on soon too.
Im in central Va and fish out of Gwynn Island, Messick Point, York River and Hampton whenever I can make the drive down. Havent gone yet this year.
The fishing has been abit slow until recently but we haven't got skunked yet. They should be turning on now that the water has warmed up alittle. I'm looking forward to getting back out on the bay and in a few weeks the offshore fishing should begin. Thanks for the comments!
