Recently purchased a 13' sport w/#B420525393350, previous owner claims it is a 1973. I went to the HIN section and could not verify this.
I need help to Identify.
Thanks

ut,
Where did you get your number off of?
It doesn't seem to match anything in the reference list.

ut,
Can you post or send me some photos?
That way we would know for sure what we are looking at.
Boston Whalers numbers started with BWC ........

I will take some pictures. Is there any other place I should look for identification, other than the plate I am looking at.

UT,
Can you still read the stencil numbers. They should be on the inside of the transom right below were the motor mounts. If you have a blue interior the stencils were done in white gelcoat it you have the tan / off white interior the numbers are done in black.

The number you have provided does not comport with any sequence used on Boston Whalers. In 1973 the Hull Identification Number (HIN) was embossed into the gel coat near the top of the transom, starboard side.
If this hull has been repaired or repainted, the HIN may have been obliterated. If this hull was sold without the HIN visible, the state in which title transferred may have required a new HIN to be issued. Every state does this differently so the HIN can end up being all sorts of odd things.
HOWEVER, all HIN by federal law have a three letter Manufacturer's Identification Code (MIC) as the first three characters if the HIN, even home-built boats are given a three letter code. You number does not have this so I am skeptical that the number yo have provided is a HIN.
Jeff cuts to the chase. If you can find the Stenciled Number, you will *probably* be able to identify not only the year and month of manufacture but the model and where is was first sold by connecting Boston Whaler customer service.

A verbal description of the boat itself would probably narrow the year range to a few years too.
Is the hull blue or Desert Tan on the inside?
Is the transom a notched 15" or a full 20"?
Is the bow locker cover long and thin or almost square?
Are there step pads at each corner of the bow?
Does the splashwell barrier go the straight across the full width of the hull or does it wrap around?
