How much lower unit oil?

Member Posts: 57 Comments: 0 Joined: 11/10/11	Hey guys. Can anyone tell me how much lower unit oil a 48 special should take? I drained the oil and not alot came out and I assumed it was just low. When I went to squirt the new oil in it only took about half a quart before it started overflowing at the top "fill level" port. Does a half quart seem right? I assumed it would take more.

Member Personal Page Posts: 100 Comments: 0 Joined: 10/04/05	that sounds about right, since my 90 Yamaha takes less than 2/3 of a quart. i've had one guy tell me to fill, plug, then run about 5 minutes on a flusher in gear, then add more, but i don't see the point and it'd be messy.
