I have noticed that everyones photobucket albums have very small photos.
Has photobucket changed their site and/or user settings for photos...
Most of you already know that I have never liked any of the free photo hosting services for many reasons.
But if they are reducing everyones photos down to stamp size, here is yet another reason not to use free services.
Anyone have an explanation for the reduction in photo size?
It is a waste of time to try to view anything worthwhile on such a small photo... I can't even click on any photo to make the photo larger....
Here is one example of photobuckets new layout.
http://mmg.photobucket.com/albums/lgo...ntauk%2017
Clicking on the small photo doesn't make them much larger at all.
Everyones photobucket album I go to is now the same format...
Why bother using such small photos?
Disclaimer:
The above is only an example and not directed towards Finnegan as everyones photobucket albums seem to be the same.

The www.mmg.photobucket.com is the mobile version of photobucket.
I agree the mobile site for photobucket (and every other "mobile" website) is terrible.
Websites, generally, have gotten worse (loading time, readability etc) in the drive for new "features" and sizzle.
(Aside: I view the site via on IPhone)

I thought it was something I did. I had a boat listed for sale on the other Whaler site months ago and when I checked it out last week the photo's were small and I think some may have been missing.

Click the link that says "View full website" at the bottom of the linked page to get to the non-mobile version of Photobucket page.
I think the problem stems from people posting here via their smartphones.

I'm a Global Moderator on another boating site and we have not had any issues with Photobucket at all.

Good one Swamp. I missed that.
It seems that the url links are different.
Here is the link for the full page.
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v42...7/?src=wap
And here is the short version.
http://mmg.photobucket.com/albums/lgo...ntauk%2017
The full version has /?src=wap added to the end of the url address....
Seems like some go to the full version without the /?src=wap while others go to the short version without it...
That seems strange...
Now I remember why I don't use any of those FREE services.....

CES,
Then you aren't looking hard enough or just haven't clicked the mobile links some people post....
Look at the links above... or the abbreviations below....
Apparently it depends on the address some users post...
This would be worldwide for all sites and all people...............
mmg.photobucket
smg.photobucket
s31.photobucket (the s31 has something to do with the user id)
/?src=wap
/?src=www
It is now appearing that photobucket is doing something today as I clicked on some links earlier today that took me to the mobile page and now they are taking me to the full page...
It also looks as though Finnegan has listed his mobile version link which has the mmg. in the address....

Thats because on a mobile device, Photo bucket will always open in its light version. On a PC, It should open in its full size version, but the first link Joe posted was actually the url of the light version, so even on a PC it only showed the smaller, phone friendly pictures.

I was cleaning up all the broken links last night on WhalerCentral.
I am not talking about the mobile viewing but viewing on a computer.
Almost all photobucket albums took me to the mobile or short version even though I was on my computer.
Even this morning was the same short version.
Click on Finnegan's links above. One takes you to the short version.
This is still the same now because of the address.
However, most of the other links are now back to normal.
It appears photobucket did, or was doing, something last night and this morning....
I can understand when you are on a mobile device that is takes you to the shorter version. (or smaller)... But this should not happen when using a computer unless you are putting in the mobile address.... I was not putting in the mobile address....
Seems they have it fixed now but if anyone sees something else, let us know...
WhalerCentral has both a computer and mobile device address....
Computer:
http://www.whalercentral.com
Mobile: (these do not view properly on a computer)
http://www.whalercentral.com/mobile
or
http://www.m.whalercentral.com

This is one of the downsides of mobile devices. I often research a part or photo for an inquiry and when I copy and paste the link i have to remember to go to the full site and use the correct link.
While some sites can auto detect your on a mobile device and display the mobile version, there does not appear to be a auto detection if you are on a non-mobile device.

One thing most websites do is to query the device that is connecting. If it is a mobile device, the site will automatically redirect to a mobile site - and typically smaller pictures and less 'clutter'. That said, if a website is programmed incorrectly, all queries might result in a redirection to the mobile site. I suspect that someone at photobucket made a change - and that's why Joe always got small pictures, even on his computer. Once they realized it, they fixed the code, thus explaining why Joe is now seeing things ok. Having fun yet?!?!

I am pretty disgusted with the entire internet experience. Seems as though the faster things get the slower I can go. Granted, I am on a satellite connection but Whaler Central is still doing well. Most other web sites I visit are so cluttered with advertisements that clicking the back button is a painfully slow process because I have to wait while all the advertisements re load.
At photobucket I see a video clip every time that I can't dump and I can't watch it unless I allow it to pre load. I am sure these things do not have much effect on true HS connections but for those of us left in the dark ages it is a constant reminder of just how poor our connections are.
Thanks Joe for keeping things as clutter free as possible here. If I want to see the photos I have the ability to click on them but I don't have to wait for them all to load.

Thanks for the feedback Gamalot...
I know what you mean about video clips and unrelated advertisements.
For example:
If you go to many of these boating sites or forums, they now have unrelated ads to boating.
Instead they have ads for women's clothes, Russian sex toys, real estate in areas I will never live in, etc....
These ads just clutter up their sites and ruin the site in my opinion.
I won't go there more than once...
If I go to a boating site, I don't want to see ads for anything but boating.
Or, if I go to a computer store, I want to see computer stuff.
Example: if you go to Apple.com, all you will see is computer stuff, nothing else...
I think some sites have just sold out when they start advertising unrelated products.
And I hate those blinking ads telling me someone is just dying to meet me....
All those unrelated ads are just a waste of time for most of us and detract from the site...
Photobucket is one such site in my opinion...
All of our sponsor ads are related to boating and are some of the best in the business.
If anyone here wants us to add unrelated products and advertising on our site, let us know.
Maybe we should have a vote?
Who wants to see all kinds of products and toys advertised on WhalerCentral with ads up and down the right and left side of the main page? and maybe big blinking banners in the top center?
"Pimp My Site"...........

Joe, You can show all the "Pimped out Whalers" and related items that you want but just give me the option of clicking or not. I hate belly aching about my PP satellite connection but it is the absolute best that can be had around here. I have logged off many forums I used to enjoy because of the BS advertisements that just slow me to a crawl.
On the other hand, with the sponsors here I know what I need is a click or 2 away and never shoved down my throat. I also love the rare photos and personal pages and project albums at my leisure and when the internet is not crowded. I give you thumbs up for keeping it clutter free.
