Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, i have recently bought a 1968 16'6" whaler and had it sandblasted. From there i heard that you could use a barrier coat as a "fairing compound" by hot coating about 5 coats then sanding it out. The manufacture is Sea Hawk "Tuff Stuff" has anyone experimented or done this before?
Thanks,
Ben

It has been done. I have no knowledge of that particular product.
You might look for or ask for references.
Search this site and on line for subject.
Look to Sea Hawk for assistance.

Interlux, and West Systems have good web sites, and teck assistance on call.

If the sand blasting got to the fibers, you might need a coat of resin, and then the barrier materials. These are the questions you will need to ask.

Comment:
All of these products like "clean". It is possible to overdo that I guess, but would be difficult.
All of these products are toxic to some extent, so read the directions.
It is an expense, and a lot of hard work. Might as well plan it and do it right the first time. You could do a test run on a piece of plywood.
A helper is really nice.

Good Luck
