Hey guys. To make a long story short, my 16' custom is almost complete. I have a set of newer controls with trim switch, and the motor being a 94, they don't work together. I was wondering if there is a short harness I can use to make it work, or maybe even splice from the controls to motor with the redplug cut off? I have another set of the old style controls, but no trim on handle and the newer ones shift much better. Thanks in advance!

What brand of 1994 motor?

What brand of controls?
What year are these controls for? You say new, but how new?

If it is OMC Yes they make a kit for the transformation. The kit was not available until this year, however, you were still able to purchase the parts separate. Last year I was able to do just that for my redo on my whaler (2008 controls with a 1985 Evinrude outboard), I was working with a counter parts person at Boats.net (found the parts on line through their diagrams). I kinda put the kit together by myself. I ended up making my own plugs with the parts I purchased (had to do a little soldering). With the new kit you will just have to plug it in...I believe the conversion is around $200. and can be found on ebay sometimes....good luck

Thanks for the reply. My motor is a Johnson 48 spl. Wow, $200 for a little harness? What did it cost you to make your own?

Awesome! Found it on ebay for $115 for a 31" harness. Thanks for the help! Hope to have her in the water next weekend after a 5 month rebuild.
