I have located a bow dodger in the Southeast from a 1987 Outrage 20 and wonder if it will fit an 1987 Outrage 18? To keep shipping costs down I am also wondering if cutting the bows in two and having them welded back together, would be another idea which is plausible?

So it is easier to understand the 20' Outrage has a beam of 7'5" and the 18' Outrage has a beam of 7'2". 3 inches doesn't sound like much, is it?

I don't know if it will fit Gus but I don't see any need to have the bows welded if you cut them. They use a term here, hot dog. After I cut my side rails all I did was used an oak dowel or smaller tube that fit inside the tube about 6 inches each side. You could use a rivet or screw in the right spots to hold the tubes and dowel in place and be fine.

The Forward Shelter from an Outrage 20 will not fit an Outrage 18.

Any time you want to know compatibility of Mills Canvas between one model and another, just visit the Mills Canvas web site and look at the part numbers of the items to see if they match.

I would use the hot dog method of putting the cut ends back together. I did use stainless tubing for mine, as I figured it woud snap when I had weight on it and really needed it not to snap.

I did that Tom and did find the part numbers are different. I was just hopeful it could be converted and be good enough until I have a few paychecks under my belt to begin acquiring perfect stuff.

Is is a lot LESS expensive and LESS trouble to be patient and wait for used parts that fit.

Use Mills items pop up all the time. Just wait for one from on Outrage 18 and be done with it.
