i just bought one - it's a 1974 Boston Whaler Imperial, 17 ft fiberglass solid tri-hull with an 85hp Evinrude Starflight of the same year... before i bought the boat, i searched all over the place for any information on it, but couldn't find it. i decided to buy the boat anyway, because it was screaming deal. does anyone know anything about this line of boats from BW, or has anyone at least heard of the Imperial??? thanks in advance for your helpful replies!

here's a kind of far-off profile shot of it:

BottomDweller,

To my knowledge whaler never made an Imperial model...Do you have more pictures? Did the seller claim the boat to be a whaler? Do you have a HIN# for the boat. That will quickly tell you who the manufacture is. All Boston Whaler civilian HIN#'s start with BWC.

the Hull's Identification # is ALS06036M74K.

what the hell. so it's not a whaler? isn't it fraudulent to claim it is before a sale when it isn't?

Your boat is not a whaler. If it was claimed as a whaler when sold and you can prove it you have a claim in small claims court. But in the end there is a 50/50 chance the court will rule that it is up to the buyer to verify all information to be true before purchase.

There are a lot of old boats out there that people and claiming to be whalers. Seems like if it has a tri hull it is listed as a whaler. Most of the mislabeled whalers I see are actually Dell Quay Dory , Mckee Craft's, or others. Gulfcoast Boats directly ripped off whalers hulls.

It was listed as a Boston Whaler Citation which there is No such thing that looks like this....
Misleading Ad

I would assume that there are still people that would try and sell us the Brooklyn Bridge...

Sorry you didn't get what you thought you were getting.
