Have the next week off with the kids. Motor has always performed well. Yesterday the rectifier burnt out. Luckily it's inexpensive for my motor and will pick one up first thing in the morning. Looking forward to time with the kids.

Have fun John. Up here in the NE we are thinking it might be time to build an Ark! Wish there was a way to send some of this rain to our friends in Tx.
Out of curiosity, how did you know the rectifier burnt out?
Did this show on your voltage gauge or something else?
These things usually just don't burn out (although they do go bad).
Have you taken any other precautions on what might have caused this?
Or are you comfortable knowing this just went bad due to old age?
Many of us might be curious and concerned about ours.
I was replacing some fuel line to the carbs and when I started it I noticed the tach jumping around and then I saw the rectifier smoking. Not sure what happened but it could very well be the original on a 1987 motor.
