I recently replaced the water pump in my engine and in the process I had to remove the gearcase. When I try to put it back, the whole piece slides in and then stops about 1 inch before it is flush with the top half of the engine. All the screws are going through the holes, the water pump shaft goes in and as far as I can tell the shaft connecting the propeller to the engine is going in correctly also. Is there something I'm missing?
I recently replaced the stator to this engine also and had to remove the flywheel. Is it possible I need to spin the flywheel around until the shaft of the propeller aligns internally with the crankshaft?
