I just purchased a 1989 Montauk. The previous owner glued carpet in the floor of the boat. A local boat repair guy said that he would have to grind out the glue and it would ruin the original non skid flooring pads on the boat. Does anyone have any other ideas of how to remove the glue without ruining the pads and having to replace them at $ 500.00 each.
Unfortunately there in not a whole lot you can did to fix this. Outside of grinding the glue out you could try a stripper like peel-a-way but not matter what you will also have some glue left behind. If you are not worried about returning the boat to OEM specs you could also line-X interior much like Ben did with his 13. Just a thought.
