Can some of you all from around Beaufort recommend some good cruising and exploring places around Beaufort? We'll be down there September 9, 10, and 11. Include launching ramps locations if you can.
This past Friday we launched at Sam's Point Landing. Not a lot of parking, but it was a weekday so there were some open spots. Went out Lucy Point Creek, tooled around in the Coosaw River, came back up Parrot Creek, took the Morgan River past the Dataw Island Marina, and then back down Lucy Point Creek to Sam's Point, all the way around Coosaw Island.
On Saturday we launched at Station Creek Landing and went down Station Creek to Trenchard's Inlet. We anchored on the inlet next to Capers Island. Man, it was a wonderful spot. Not too many other boats. The island across the inlet is Phillips Island, where Ted Turner has a house. Threw the cast net, caught some bait fish, did a little bit of fishing, maybe had a beer or two, just a wonderful day.
A couple of good places we ate in and around Beaufort were:
The Dockside Restaurant in Port Royal, great fried seafood, right on the water.
Plums Restaurant right on Bay Street in downtown Beaufort, red snapper with fried oysters on top.
The last two times we've stayed in Beaufort, we stay at the Best Western Sea Island Inn. It's right across from the city marina downtown. It's clean and in a great location.
