A little more info would be helpful.. Is the emergency switch in? Fuel lines set? Have you checked for spark? Any issues prior to trying to start the motor?
After weeks of asking and checking several of the mercury forums I came across info on a forum called the boat repair forum and was steered correctly toward a fix. My stator went bad overnight. From what I could gleam it was on it's way to failing and it finally did on my last start.
Got a new CSI staor under 200 bucks from a company called www.outboardignition.com and now it starts and purrs better then ever. That company has ignition diagnistic info on their web site that is made for us diy types.
