Hello,
I have a 13 sport with a 30 hp ETEC. I'm considering switching to a SS prop and was wondering what size would be best? I'm currently looking at the stainless steel props evinrude has for their ETEC's. I use the boat for mostly bass fishing, flats fishing, and just cruising. I currently have the stock aluminum prop that is 10.3 x 12, and pops the boat on plane quickly and has a top speed of about 28 at about 5900 rpm
Thanks for any help you may have

Dunno but like this thread. Hope to hear what 13 folks use. Mine is a 77 as well, 35 merc 2 stroke. I have an 8.5 x 13 and it's too quick. Came with the bottom I was given to put an engine running with the boat. Personally I will probably still buy aluminum when I do it. It feels worse to damage a SS prop when it happens.

If you are using the 12" pitch aluminum now and hitting 5900 RPM , then you would want the BRP stainless steel 10" x 12" three blade, part # 765177.
Given that the optimal RPM range for the E-TEC 30 is 5400-5800 RPM, you might even be able to make use of the 13" pitch model.
If you go with an aftermarket prop, I recommend the 10-1/2" x 12" Stiletto Triad 3.5.

Neff, are you happy with your 30 hp E-Tec? I'm looking to repower my 82' restored 13. A lot of people say 40hp but more money and maybe all I need is 30-35 hp. I will be using this boat as a cruiser for my wife and kids.

Thanks for the recommendations. Exactly what I was hoping to find out on here.
Pirate,
I love the 30 ETEC. I found a great deal on one with PTnT around christmas and the engine runs great. Gets up on plane in no time no matter if I have one or 4 people on board. I have no doubt I could pull someone on a tube without an issue, as well. As far as going up in HP to the 40 i think the 30 is perfect for the boat, its not as heavy as the 40 ETEC would be and even though everyone would love more HP, I'm not sure if it would have been worth it when it came to extra price and extra weight on the boat.

'92 13 GLS with 2011 30 hp Tohatsu 4 stroke. Top end 32 ,cruise at 20-22/4200 rpm with aluminum prop. Tested E-Tech on similar boat. 4 stroke wins hands down even with eteh extended 5 year warranty. Prices were similar. Under 5k for motor installed and Throttle fuel tank, fuel lines, tach. Location of service center may be deciding factor. Tohatsu/Nissan make Merc 30 and under for strokes...Just food for thought.

I looked at the 40 etech first but i believe it to be way too heavy at 240 lbs although others may disagree

I'd love to hear a comparison of a 30 hp etec vs 40 hp etec on the same or identical boat. I am also wondering if the 10 extra horsepower makes up enough to cover the 60 - 70 Lb weight difference.
