Hi everybody.. have a 1996 evinrude motor 2 stroke... been having this weird issue with the motor... every time I go over 3200 rpm for a long period of time the engine light go on and long beep.. when i put it back to idle the beep go away... sometime the engine cut out if I continue go at high rpm.. it got worse now, i feel the motor choking after 2000 rpm, will go faster, leave at idle speed the motor run fine... Having a feeling it my be a fuel issue.. Oh, every time I take the boat out, first thing is pump gas with the bulb.. it never get hard.. I already change out the fuel bulb, fuel separator and spark plug

1. Can it be the fuel pump???
2. Can it be the fuel hose from the tank to the fuel seperator???
3. or may be the spark plug wire???

any suggestion will greatly appreciated... Thank you...

Typically the warning horn is either oil or heat.

Read your Owner's Manual but I believe a constant beep can indicate a fuel restriction. Check your fuel hoses first, filters if you have them and the fuel pump on the motor.

If the primer bulb collapsed when this happens? Does squeezing it make the motor come back to life?

It could also be an overheat condition. Have an infrared thermometer? Use it on the head to see how hot it is getting if you do not have a temperature gauge for the motor installed. Is the Tell-Tale showing a good stream of water?

Could you tell us which engine you have? That would go a long way to helping get you a correct answer. What is the complete model number?

I will get the exact model for the engine... I was thinking of getting a 2 gallons tank and run it directly to the motor... see if it is really the fuel hose problem.....
