Hi everybody, Can anyone tell me the best way to mount some cleats on the front of my 13 sport? There doesn't seem to be any way to gain any access inside to back the bolts up. I would like to use pop-up cleats but am not sure how to do it. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.
Most owners use the Norman pin in the bow and the stern eyes on the transom for securing line.
Given the narrow lip of the gunnel, there is not sufficient width to mount a through bolted cleat that would be strong enough.
Installing recessed cleats would be a serious undertaking since the hull is full of closed cell foam. The fiberglass skin would not provide the strength needed.
Have you used the aforementioned locations for securing lines?

Yes I have, It is difficult because of the dock I keep the boat moored at. It is a pretty high concrete dock. I do have about 8 to 10 inches of gunnel width on the front. It is all non skid surface, and pretty solid. I do think I will forget about the pop-ups though.
