Good afternoon,
I am looking for the correct cable and hopefully a reasonably priced dealer for the control cables to connect a 1989 evinrude and a old morse mt2 control.
As near as I can tell the correct teleflex part number is CC19018 with the 18 signifying an 18' cable length. West marine does not carry them as well as several other dealers here in the northeast, I know I can use a standard 3300 cable with adaptors or the teleflex extreme cables again with adaptors but I would prefer the correct cable as it has much more adjustment flexability at the engine end.

As always your help is appreciated!

Kevin

Ice Cop,
Not sure of the pros and cons involved with various levles of cable quality vs. another within the same brand. However, when connecting the MT2 to my Yamaha 70, I used "standard" teleflex cables with Yamaha adaptors and have had no issues with them (As I had/have little to no experience with that sort of thing, I pretty much used whatever the salesman told me I needed).
I did have a confusing situation at first, due to poor instructions from the marine tech I bought the motor from, in not making sure I had the shifter adaptor on the shifter designated cable and the carburetor cable adaptor on the carburetor designated cable.

If you can make 17' cables work for your application, I have a set of cables in excellent condition exactly as you need (Morse MT-2/3 control to OMC engine specific). They are black, and were de-rigged from a 19 Outrage I bought which was converted to all Mercury (control + engine).

You can have them for the cost of shipping.

(I also have a set of the same things in 14' length)

I am curious if you have had any success in using the Morse Control with your 1989 outboard. I have an 89 Evinrude 70hp, and was given the original morse control, and want to hook it back up. Any pictures/parts you have used would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Did you use those free cables that were offered?
