I am trying to use existing cables on my nearly completed 1965 Sakkonet 17 restoration. he previous owner had replaced these at some point and the cables seem to be in good working order. Can anyone help me on with installation instructions? Specifically there must be some way to secure the control barrel anchors on the cables on the console side. I did not see how the previous owner did it since these were disconnected when I purchased the boat. I believe the contol cables I have are Teleflex Marine Mercury Type Gen II Control Cables, and the control itself is this type:

There should hardware at the base of the control itself that captures the "barrel anchors".

All this will be explained in the control's installation instructions.

I can see that Dave but, being the computer wizard I am NOT, I cannot download any of the stuff in the download section. I need some dopy plug in gadget that has me baffled. The link you posted above works perfect for me but is not the MT2 I will need.

No worries Gary. I just sent you an email to the address in your profile and it has the instructions attached to it in PDF format. Post if you have any problems opening that.

Gamalot,

You seem to have computer problems if you cannot download anything from our "Downloads" page...
There is No Plug In needed to download anything here.

Click the Green "Download" button and the download should start immediately and automatically.
If not, seek help.............. a friend or neighbor.....

Thanks Dave, I got it.

Yes Joe, a friend came and made some changes that helped me open pictures and videos in emails and now I am unable to open anything from the downloads section here. I get a message to go get a plug in because windows needs to know what program created it. There is some glitch setting checked in my win7 program that I have not been able to find so far.

I am almost done with the motor, but I have no confidence in the controls. So, since they are kind of important..anyone recommend any particular top mount control box? Seems kind of limited out there from what I have seen.

I always recommend the same brand of controls as the brand of engine you have.

Which engine do you have?

I was moaning about it before but as I get into it, it may not be so bad until I can afford a new one, I took the carbs off the other day to clean and kit them and I was pleasantly surprised at how everything looks.
I think I have the control end of cables done right now after playing with them for an hour in my driveway.

Alright Joe- I finally have some pics to post, and have created my personal page. I just couldn't help it after I cleaned last night. I was going to wait until she was in the water. Those will come later.

Looking pretty nice SS and lots of work and time I am sure.

When you get around to replacing the decals be sure to look at some threads here and to install them with the sled facing forward!

You did a nice job with the wood!

Wow- I never even noticed that. I didn't touch them. I am hoping to re-do the exterior hull this winter, and I already have the new decals.

That's good Gamalot saw that and let you know before you put the decals back on backwards.

I would love to take all the credit but it was just a couple days ago in another thread where Joe caught the same issue that I had completely missed. LOL

I have a full set of new decals awaiting install and I am totally happy this has been pointed out before I do things twice!
