Read a lot about the bigger boats and how the engines should be mounted but I'm not sure if the same goes for the smaller whalers. I will be installing my new Kent fab bracket to the 15" transom so o could use my 88 35hp force engine for a few years before I can afford a new e- tec or merc. Do the standard mounting patterns listed under the 16 - 17 apply to my 13 or are they different? The bracket is ss or alum so I'd rather not screw it up. Also I've read that the ventilation plate should be even with or slightly above the bottom of the boat. Again this was far a larger boat. I assume the same would hold true no matter the boat size. I think my motor only has two mounting hole choices. Should I drill so when using the upper hole the engine is sitting on the top of the bracket or so the ventilation plate is even with the bottom of the boat leaving me the ability to raise it one hole should I need to? Thanks in advance.
Raise your motor so that the cav plate is about an inch above the bottom of the boat. My cav plate is exactly one inch above the bottom and it works out well.

Thanks. Is that the highest you'd want to bring it? Just wondering if I shoul drill so I'm at that setting on my lower holes or top holes. Probably only an inch and a half difference between the two.
