A buddy of mine experienced an obstruction in his "tell tale" line (pee tube) of his outboard. He tried compressed air and finally removed the line to shove a clothes hanger through it when he was told to use weed eater line so that he would not damage the line.
I have a pretty good tool kit but never thought about the usefulness of some flexible weed eater line, as I too had a similar issue once that left me stranded for hours until in finally freed the obstruction.
Just food for thought.

Despite fresh water flushing on muffs after every use, I had a clogged tell-tale last week. A scrap piece of 16 AWG wire from the toolbox did the trick.

Typically, the tell tale has a grommet through the motor housing with the water line attached on the inside by a clamp. It is the grommet where the blockage usually occurs.

I agree, however, the fact that something to run through the "tell tale" on the fly other than a clothes hanger would be handy on board.
I'm always looking for that one thing I haven't thought of.
